The Role

A small school with a big heart! Hawkchurch CofE Primary School, our lovely village school is situated in beautiful east Devon, on the Somerset and Dorset border. Our rural location makes for an excellent learning environment, where everyone matters.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated individual to work alongside the class teacher across all areas of the curriculum.


  • To deliver targeted interventions.
  • To promote inclusion through the development of social skills, language and emotional well-being.
  • To work under the direction of the class teacher and liaise with other professionals both within and outside the school
  • You will be expected to show a high degree of initiative and be able to react to given situations with integrity and compassion


The position is for 29.5 hours per week

Term time only (38 weeks per year)

Qualifications
Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, including English and Maths and Grade 4 (previously Grade C) or above
Essential
First Aid qualification or willingness to gain one

Diploma in supporting pupils or equivalent

Able to promote inclusion of all pupils

Able to interact positively with a group of children or on a one-to-one basis

Awareness of school policies and procedures relating to Child Protection, Health & Safety and Data Protection

Able to undertake structured and agreed learning activities, adjusting activities according to pupil's responses as well as working on own initiative

Able to use ICT equipment e.g. iPads, Chromebooks

Good literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to at least level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework

Good knowledge of the primary national curriculum
